When I came to Germany, I thourht that my English would improve automatically.
However, although 4 months have passed, I found that my English was not as good as I expected.
I took part in a BBQ party with our team members in order to welcome a new colleague.
He comes from Ireland and I was not able to understand his fluent native English at all.
On the other hand, other Germany colleagues enjoyed a conversation with him.
I was disappointed and felt out of place.
I thought that I had to increase opportunities to talk in English.
That's why I decided to start DMM English conversation lesson.
I take a 25 minutes lesson after work on weekdays.
I hope that this will make my English great.
Life in Germany
Strasbourg
My Japanese boss who has a car took me to Strasbourg in France.
First of all, I would like to explain a history of the town.
Strasbourg is located near the border between Germany and France and they occupied the town in turn.
1871 Germany (Franco-Prussian War)
1919 France (World War I)
1940 Germany (World War II)
1944 France (World War II)
That's why Strasbourg has not only French culture but also Germany one.
It took about 2 hours to drive to the town.
I crossed Rhine River and went into France for the first time.
First we went to see Strasbourg Cathedral.
I was so impressed at such a big and beautiful building.
Unfortunately, we was not able to go up the stairs in the building because the ticket was sold out.
Next, we went to a resuaturant for lunch.
A nice view was seen from the table.
It's said that the Japanese famous movie “Howl's Moving Castle” is based on this town.
After lunch, we took a walk and happened to find a palace.
Google told us that this was Rhin Palace, which Wilhelm II had visited in many times, and ginkgo trees which a Japanese emperor had sent to him were planted.
It was surprising that the building had a relationship with Japan.
Knowing a background of a town and a building makes a trip more interesting.
I enjoyed this short trip to France.

・I selected the horse which Lemaire-san will ride as my favorite for the first time in a while. His performance was not so good this summer, but he won in 4 races yesterday. This implies that he is getting better. I hope that he will ride the horse well in this bigger race.
・As for the horse ②サトノセシル, she got the 3rd place in the last graded race even though a minor jockey rode her. Since a better jockey Lemaire-san will ride her, it's expected that she will get a higher rank.
・The most popular horse ④ラヴズオンリーユー also seems to be strong. She showed a good performance in not only Japanese graded races but also overseas ones.
・In conclusion, I bought a win ticket of ②サトノセシル and a quinella ticket of her and ④ラヴズオンリーユー.

・A strong point of this horse is her speed in a last straight. I think that this characteristic is suitable for Kokura Racecourse. She got the 3rd place in graded races held there in 2 times.
・I'm also interested in the most popular horse ⑦ジャンダルム. He seeme to be in a good condition this year. In particular, he won with ease in the last race, where the same distance as this race was used.
・That's why I bought a quinella place ticket related to them.
